A visit to community garden and food bank
On June 27th at 9:30 AM, the Nakshatra Family, including young kids and parents, visited the Coppell Community Garden for a hands-on session. They learned about horticulture, landscaping, sustainable gardening, and organic methods. During the visit, they observed crop yields, such as cucumbers, okra, summer squash and toured the Metrocrest Food Bank, where the kids learned about food organization, sorting, and distribution, including how food is allocated to those using food stamps.
Special thanks to Perraju Vegiraju, Vasavi Penmetsa, and Ramesh Varma Mantena for organizing this event for the Nakshatra Family. Perraju and Ramesh Varma have been dedicated volunteers at the Coppell Community Garden for the past 10 years, adopting plots each year and spending Saturday mornings caring for the garden, growing, and donating vegetables.
